Job Description

SUMMARY:  Provides assistance to medical staff utilizing excellent administrative skills by performing the duties and responsibilities outlined below. Provides exceptional service and/or care to all patients, customers and team members.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promptly answers call bell and notifies the appropriate personnel of patient’s needs.
  • Directs guests appropriately in a courteous manner.
  • Uses proper phone etiquette to screen and route phone calls to appropriate person/department in a timely fashion while strictly adhering to HIPPA guidelines.
  • Consults physicians, makes follow up appointments and documents each appropriately in the EMR.
  • Makes appropriate changes to diet orders within the EMR.
  • Transfers patient, changes patient’s status, discharges patient in a timely manner in the EMR.
  • Maintains and orders supplies as necessary.
  • Assembles patient charts in a timely fashion. Assures that labels are readily available in the charts.
  • Scans paper documents into the appropriate EMR folder with a 98% compliance rate.
  • Sends service requests to the appropriate department when needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience/Training:

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) required; clinical experience preferred
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of various software programs required
  • Completes annual mandatory requirements
  • Experience or formal training in medical terminology

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Medium Work – Medium level work as definied by the U.S. Department of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 21 – 50 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11- 25 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • May be required to assist in the turning, lifting or moving of patients.
  • Walking about from patients’ rooms as well as to and from various hospital areas.
