Job Description

SUMMARY: 

Responsible for diversity in tasks to include the preparation and serving of meals for patients, employees and customers.  Responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary and safe work environment.  Responsible for working through-out the dietary department including dish-room, production and retail areas as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains all service standards towards customers, co-workers and clients.
  • Sets up and maintains assigned work area in a neat, clean, and orderly manner to facilitate efficiency and ensure food safety.
  • Conscientiously completes all cleaning assignments as outlined in the Master Cleaning Schedule in adherence to all sanitation procedures.
  • Maintains basic nutrition knowledge as related to patient and retail menu program.
  • May assemble and deliver patient trays with accuracy and completeness.
  • May set-up and maintain retail serving lines and stations.
  • Assists in dish room, pots/pan area and production areas as assigned.
  • Completes all required temperature and sanitizer concentration logs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper infection control and food safety standards as evidenced by good hand hygiene, glove usage, FIFO, dating/labeling and monitoring of proper food temperatures.
  • Works with all levels of hospital personnel, visitors and customers in a professional and service-oriented manner at all times.
  • Assembles and delivers floor stock as needed.
  • Adheres to all established systems and training programs to provide a safe environment
  • Maintains compliance with LGH’s standards of operation, client and within LGH’s Business Conduct Policy. Maintains all records and reports necessary to comply with LGH government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently; must demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Steam tables, Coffee machines, Food warmers, Counters / Tables, Knives, Tea machines, Ice maker, Pagers, Small appliances, Beverage / Ice dispensers, Telephone, Serving utensils, & Warming cabinet

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary: Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying small items (files, manuals, binders).

Light: Lifting 20 Pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

X    Medium : Lifting 50 Pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Heavy : Lifting 100 Pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Very Heavy : Lifting objects in excess of 100 Pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
